When I made the decision to become a full-time RVer, I was concerned I might get lonely. A year later, I’m far from lonely. I have found my village.

I constantly meet people throughout my travels. Whether it’s meeting up for coffee, problem-solving an issue with my RV, or walking our dogs together, I have a wonderfully diverse village around me. RV parks are full of opportunities to meet others, and I even meet people while boondocking in the desert of Arizona. The possibilities for RVers to connect are endless.

Two of my strengths are connectedness and hospitality. I’m thrilled that RVillage has asked me to use these skills to help our village. I get to do this by facilitating offline group meet-ups for RVillage members around North America. We call these, RVillage Gatherings. They are casual gatherings that range from a meal together or local activity to 3-5 night RV park stays. The 3-5 night parks stay’s agenda is loose and no activity is mandatory. There is no cost for the gathering itself - only for your RV site, food, or any activities that have a fee. And most importantly, everyone is welcome!

Gathering: an assembly or meeting, especially a social or festive one or one held for a specific purpose.

A few weeks ago, we kicked off the RVillage Gatherings in Jenison, Michigan at Steamboat Park. It was a small group and the weather was cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. We met for breakfast on the first morning at 9:30 a.m. At one point, someone looked at their watch and exclaimed, “It’s 2:00 p.m.!”. We were all shocked that we had been talking for 4 ½ hours and no one had an urge to look at the time until then. That is a village - fully engaged in sharing, caring, and learning from each other.

Gathering together in-person is a great way to extend your RVillage network and create lifelong friendships. I hope to see you at one of the RVillage Gatherings in the future.

You can find all upcoming Gatherings listed in the RVillage Gatherings group - new ones are added regularly.
